Lucy's Cards Sketch Week - Day 1

Hi!
Well, it's been a while since I hosted my last lot of sketch challenges - so I thought now was the perfect time. I got this all prepared in advance, so while I am busy with my little Sophie I can keep you busy too. :)
I've created a series of 5 sketches which I will share over the coming days. For each sketch, I have created a card, and I'd like to invite you to play along. Link up your cards using the Mister Linky tool, and I'll choose some winners to receive some prizes. The deadline for all the sketches is February 14th.
Today's sketch features a tag - one of my favourite design elements (which, if you are a regular reader, I am sure you have noticed!).

And here is my card - as always, a very literal interpretation. This is how my brain works... :)
My card features die cuts from Amy Tangerine's Cut & Paste line, as well as a tag and patterned paper from American Crafts' Polka Dot Party line. I used a stamp from THIS Simon Says Stamp set and THESE stickers to create my custom sentiment.

If you'd like to join me and play along, just create a new card and link it up below.
More sketches to follow soon!

Bye for now.

Rainbow Valentine

Hello.
Today I have a fun, rainbow Valentine to share with you. OK, so I know rainbows are not particularly romantic, but when I first saw the Heart Parade die from Simon Says Stamp's Valentine's release, I knew I wanted to make a parade of rainbow hearts. :) I die cut the image from black card stock first, then gathered a load of paper scraps and die cut each heart individually. Then I just had to adhere it to some white card and add the sentiment which is from the Valentine's Spoons stamp set.

Simple and fun - and boy friendly I think. :)

Have a fun day.

Simon Says Stamp's February Card Kit

Hi.
My amazing hubby has been so good to me recently that I actually had time to play with the gorgeous February Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp. While Lily and he went swimming, and Sophie was sleeping (she just loves to sleep all day at the moment!!) I created a couple of very quick and simple cards using just the papers and stamps in the kit. This is what I love about the kits - the ability to throw together a coordinated card without having to get out all your tools and stash! Perfect for me at the moment when I have such small windows of opportunity to create.
My first card uses some of the pretty stamps in the sweet Spring-y stamp set

I added some of the acrylic paint included in the kit to the flower centres for some texture.

And my second card… To make the bright pink card stock paler, I adhered some of the vellum from the kit over the top. Vellum is a fab way to soften the look of brighter papers and cardstock. Love that Simon includes it in the kits once in a while.

On this one, I used a white pen to add some faux stitching (as I did not have quite enough time (or the energy) to haul out my sewing machine)!

So simple thanks to the awesome papers and stamps.
Love this kit… and so much more to play with in the box. Amazing value as always.
Right, back to my babies. :)
Bye for now.

It's a Girl!

Baby news!!!
My baby arrived on the afternoon of Monday 6th January, a little girl weighing 8lb 4oz (seriously, 80% of that weight MUST BE in her cheeks!!).
We have called her Sophie.
Happily, we were able to leave hospital on the same day and we are both doing really well at home, snuggling and getting to know each other.
Lily is besotted. She just wants to kiss her ALL THE TIME. Poor Sophie. :)
And here she is, my little chubby cheeked sweetie.
I'll be popping in with cards again soon - I promise!
Until then, thanks for visiting.

Perfect Love

Hello!
Just popping in with a wedding card I created with some of the fab Valentine's release goodies from Simon Says Stamp.  This stunning Heart Wreath die is perfect for so many occasions. Here, I simply die cut the wreath from cream card, then die cut the hearts from some Carnation Layering paper that I'd spritzed with Calico Shine Mister Huey's. After adhering the hearts to the wreath, I used some rolled up Glue Dots to attach the wreath to the card so it pops off the page a bit. The sentiment is from the Perfect Love stamp set.

I just love the font of these sentiments… so pretty and romantic.

That's all for today.
Hope to be back again soon.
Bye for now.

My Sweet Little Monster

Hello!
I'm here today to share the last of my cards created with Simon Says Stamp's January Card Kit. Having said that, I have a load of papers and goodies left to play with - these kits are awesome value.
Anyway - today's card is for any sweet little girl monster.  ;)
Simple stamping, stitching and paper piecing on this one. I created a custom sentiment with the fabulous Basic Alphabet from Clearly Besotted.
