Merry Christmas Shaker Card

Hello.
Today I have a card featured over at A Blog Named Hero. They are hosting a month long Christmas celebration with lots of guest designers and prizes too.
To join in the celebrations, I thought I'd create a super sparkly shaker card filled with sequins.

To create my card, I used Hero Arts Fancy Cuts Christmas dies, cutting the words from some pretty Bo Bunny patterned paper which I had already die cut with my favourite stitched frame die. After backing this with some acetate, I filled the window with a ton of silver and clear sequins, then adhered it over some glitter paper. The result - a super sparkly interactive card that's perfect for a lover of shiny things. :)

This was so quick and easy to create - you could definitely throw together a pile of these in an afternoon! And what a fun afternoon it would be. :)

I've had a couple of people ask for more detailed instructions. Hope this makes it clearer:
Die cut a frame from the pink paper.
Die cut 'Merry Christmas' from the pink paper.
Stick acetate to the back of the pink paper.
Stick the little tiny pieces from the letters 'e' and 'a' onto the top of the acetate.
Turn the pink paper over onto your work surface.
Put foam tape on the back of the pink paper to create a window.
Put sequins into the window.
Stick the glitter card on top.

Yay! Let's Celebrate!

Today the Simon Says Stamp December card kit is released. It's beautiful - and a bit different!! Definitely one to make you think and be creative.

Confession: I don't do much heat embossing. A bit… but not enough! Perhaps I am lazy…

This beautiful kit comes with two awesome Ranger embossing powders - ones I've seen Jennifer McGuire using with fabulous results. So I was very happy to see them in my box!

For my card today, I used a bit of everything in the kit - a couple of lovely stamps, the stunning Liquid Platinum embossing powder, gold sequins and lovely Audrey Blue cardstock.

And that Liquid Platinum looks even more awesome in real life. :)

Another fab kit! And one to really stretch the creative mind. That's what I love about card kits. :) They make me think in new ways…

As for me, I am currently at my parents' house while we have a new kitchen fitted. So excited to see it when it's done… I've been waiting 4 years for it. :)

Hello. :)
I hope you had a good weekend. We certainly did.

Today I have a card to share featuring Simon Says Stamp's lovely Butterflies dies. I die cut several from patterned paper, glitter card and vellum, then stitched them together. I added a sentiment from THIS set, and used lots of the stitched dies from my favourite Bundle of Stitched Shapes die set.

 

Love this zig zag paper… it's from THIS pad.

I've got lots to make this week! I'll be busy busy busy!!

Reindeer Parade

Hello!

Today I have a fun card to share which I created with a cute reindeer stamp from Simon Says Stamp's Sweater Words and Appliques stamp set. I coloured them with Copics (I am totally USELESS at Copic colouring… but I tried.) Then I gave my reindeer gemstone noses and adhered them over a  Falling Snow stencilled background to which I applied translucent embossing paste mixed with fine white glitter (see here for a video on this technique).  

The sentiment is from the Be Joyful set and is one of my favourite Christmas sentiment stamps of this year. Simple, elegant and sweet. And don't you just love this stitched frame die - I knew I would use it  a LOT as soon as I saw it. This set is a MUST have die set in my opinion. :)

Simon's Sea Glass cardstock is another of my favourites…

A new baby!

There's a new baby in our family. My sister-in-law just had a baby girl. Hooray. So I picked my favourite stamp for baby cards - the cute deer from Avery Elle's Storybook set - added some lovely papers from Pebbles Special Delivery pad, and some Clearly Besotted alphabet stamps.

I cannot resist giving this adorable baby deer a silk scarf… HERE is my boy version of this card: same detailing. :)

We're heading to meet our new niece this weekend. I cannot wait. :)

Inlaid Butterfly

Hello!

So I've been gone a while… my sister was over from Canada (where she lives) and we had lots of lovely family time together. It was just wonderful.

But now I am back. 

And today I have a card to share that features a bold mix of patterns and colours - a bit different from my usual style! I die cut a Simon Says Stamp's Paulina butterfly from this gorgeous yellow paper from Amy Tangerine's Stitched pad, then die cut a Hero Arts tag from the negative space. After adding stitching to the tag and butterfly, I laid the butterfly back into the negative space on the tag and adhered it in place. A few Smooth Gemstones and a stamped sentiment later and I was done. 

The striking black paper is from Pebbles Homemade pad.

What do you think? Should I stick to my usual pink and aqua?? :)
