Card Kit - Day 5

Hello and welcome to the final day of my Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit feature.
Today's card uses my favourite patterned papers from the kit... and I LOVE that it comes in two shades so I could do this:

The sentiment was customised with a bit of masking. Helps make the stamps go further. And that gorgeous little bird journaling spot was cut from a sheet of patterned paper. I love it. :)
Right.
That's all folks.
To sum up, this is a FAB kit that I can not recommend highly enough. Plenty of materials, enough for LOTS more cards than the five I created, beautifully co-ordinated supplies, AND an exclusive stamp set! What more could anyone need. A perfect vacation pack, all boxed ready to go. :)
Thanks again to Heidi for sending me a kit to test - I really had a ball with it.
Back soon with more cards - see you then.

Card Kit - Day 4

Hi - it's time for another card made using Simon Says Stamp's July Card Kit.
Here I used my favourite sentiment stamp from the set. The two little banners were cut from one of the sheets of patterned paper. And I just love the cute Tim Holtz paper clips. ;)

I have one more card to share tomorrow.
Hope to see you then.
P.S.
Check out my 1st bunch of flowers this year. I love having a garden... picking your own flowers and food is the BEST.

Card Kit - Day 3

Hello - it's time for card 3 of my Simon Says Stamp's July Card Kit creations.
This card really showcases the pretty patterned papers in the kit. And Kristina's gorgeous stamp. :)
I was so happy to find so much aqua in the kit. My FAVOURITE colour. :)

With the sentiment, I used a black fine liner to colour in the letters, using a scribble style to match the font. This was fun.
Another card to share tomorrow - see you then.

Card Kit - Day 2

I'm here today with the second of my cards made exclusively with Simon Says Stamp's July Card Kit. For this card, I was determined to use the other half of the envelope I cut up for yesterday's card. Waste not want not! :)
I adore this tiny sentiment stamp... I stamped it on a tiny journaling card cut from one of the sheets of patterned paper in the kit.  And aren't those buttons pretty?

More to share soon. :)

Card Kit - Day 1

I'm back. Sorry for my absence...
I had a LOVELY time with my family. Really special, given that I don't get to see my sister and brother a whole lot. We had lots of laughs and fun. Perfect. :)
Anyway - as I was packing to go away, I received a very wonderful gift from the super kind Heidi at Simon Says Stamp. She sent me one of her FABULOUS July Card Kits. So, I grabbed some black ink, an acrylic block, and a pair of scissors and packed the kit along with all Lily's toys. I thought I might be able to grab a few minutes to create something or other while away...
And BOY did I have fun. These kits are perfect for this kind of thing - a little vacation, a weekend away... all you need is a couple of tools and you have the ingredients for LOADS of cards.
Heidi includes a glossy sheet of card ideas by the wonderful Kristina Werner if you get a bit stuck for inspiration, but I didn't have that problem. The items in the kit are put together so well that it's easy to come up with ideas, and before I knew it, I had made 5 cards. I have LOTS of supplies left too for another day. AND a fab stamp set that is a definite new favourite.
So, I'm going to share one card a day for the next 5 days. :) All of the cards use ONLY materials found in the kit along with black ink and a sewing machine.  Here's a picture of the kit contents:
And, here is today's card:

It could be used as a gift card holder as the envelope opens to the side. A fun little extra. :)
So, Heidi - thank you. I LOVE the kit. And I recommend it whole heartedly. It was so exciting to open this little box of delights. And even more exciting sketching and designing these cards. :)
Back tomorrow with card 2.

Sorry...

Sorry for the lack of blog posts. I've been a bit ill, and now I am taking a short break to spend time with my sister who is visiting from Canada. YAY!!!
Hope you are all well - I will be back soon! Lots more to share.

Blue Bookmark

It's not often I make things that are NOT cards... but when I saw this sweet little silhouetted boy from the Beautiful Music digikit, I wanted to put him on a bookmark. Not sure why, but I went with my instinct...
DSC04794
I recoloured the musical background to blue, then layered over the boy stamp and printed it onto vellum. I then die cut the bookmark from the vellum, and another pair from blue cardstock. I stitched it all together, then added blue silk ribbon to finish.
I reckon these would make a cute gift - especially attached to a card or something. You could even add sentiments to them too.
And I'll never lose my place with this yummy silk ribbon sticking out of the top of my book.

Oh, and the book - one of my all time FAVOURITES. :)
Back soon.

Musical Birthday

Hello. I'm here today with a card made with Hero Arts newest digikit: Beautiful Music. The main silhouette image and the musical background are both from the kit. The sentiment is from the Great Card Messages kit.  For a change, I printed the image, along with the sentiment and a beautiful background paper from the Pool Patterned Papers digikit, onto some Watercolour paper. I love the effect - so soft and pretty.  I added some inking with Tumbled Glass distress ink on the central panel and Pumice Stone on the kraft.

There's another new kit released today called 'Thinking of You'. It's got one of my all time favourite stamps in it. Check it out HERE. I'll have cards to share made with it later this week.
See you then.

Not my usual style but...

OK, so my husband asked me to make a card for my brother-in-law... it's a big birthday.
It's no secret - I am not a fan of masculine cards... so I thought I'd try something new: humour! (or my attempt at it.)
My husband LOVES the Hero Arts Prehistoric Fun digikit, so I used that as my main inspiration. This is what I came up with...
Outside:

Inside:

So - just 3 supplies (Prehistoric Fun, Echo Park's Little Boys digikit and some Grass Layering Paper used with the colour on the inside), a free font (HERE) and some simple stitching. Oh, and a goggle eye. :)
It's great what you can achieve in a stolen half an hour when you have a napping baby.
Oh, and let's hope he's is not offended. ;)
Have a great day.

Froggy Friends

Here's a couple of quick and easy cards I made using the new Hero Arts Picnic digikit.
First, a card made using the plaid background stamp from the kit, some cute Doodlebug stickers and twine and a simple sentiment stamp. I do love google eyes on a card...
DSC04758

Next, a clean and simple card featuring a kite stamp from the kit. (My attempt at a Maile Belles type card - she's awesome right!!). I added a sentiment from Say It (Again and Again). To lift the kite a little and tie in with the sentiment, I printed a 2nd one, and added some stitching. Simple.

Hope you're having a good week. All fine here. My little Lily's now 6 months.. can you believe it?? She's not so little any more...
