I love blue...

You know, I do not think there is enough blue in the scrapbooking / cardnmaking world. Yes, there's loads of almost blue - turquoise, duck egg, aqua, teal etc. but very little proper blue. I'm talking rich cornflower blue. Yum. So when I stumbled upon this gorgeous picture on Pinterest (follow my colour inspiration board here) I was inspired.

Today's card is on the Hero Arts blog, and features one of their digital cut files for the Silhouette - the Striped Flower. I cut three different size flowers from watercolour card then used some REAL proper gorgeous watercolours to colour them. I've got this set of Winsor and Newton Watercolours (a gift from my generous and artistic father) and they are stunning. Once dry, I added Rock Candy Stickles and tiny sequins for some sparkle, and some die cut vellum Spring Branches.

You're so Sweet (or What a Lot of Fussy Cutting!!)

OK so I was watching Jennifer McGuire's latest (and most awesome) video earlier, and just had to laugh. There's this bit where she cuts out this tiny cherry from the stamp set in Simon Says Stamp's August Card Kit, and makes a comment about how people will react with horror to this detail cutting… hahaha! This weekend when I was playing with this gorgeous kit I had the (brilliant) idea to create a card featuring JUST the cherry… times about 40. :) I do make life hard for myself. :) So I stamped the cherry x 40 on some of the patterned paper in the kit. Then I stamped the smiley face on top of each cherry. Then I covered each cherry with Glossy Accents. Then I CUT EACH ONE OUT. And it hurt. But I think it was worth the effort as these little guys are JUST TOO CUTE.DSC_0099
The sentiment is also created with stamps from the cute Ice Cream Dream stamp set which you can buy separately or as part of the kit. And I used the amazing Frames dies again… I am in love with this die set.  Oh, and that card stock - Simon's Audrey Blue. YUM.

OK, so these little shiny cherries make me happy. It was worth the pain. :)

Rainbow Fishes

Well, I am sure you've seen the gorgeous new stamps and dies released by Simon Says Stamp on Friday. They are everywhere in blogland. :) 
There are some really cute items in this release, and the Best Fishes stamp set is definitely my favourite. As soon as I saw that stripy fish I knew I wanted him to be rainbow. And shiny. And have a wiggly eye (of course). I created a frame with one of the new Frames dies. Love this set - you can create frames and inserts with each die. Here I popped out the frame, covered it in glitter, then adhered it to a Mint card base and adhered the insert back inside. Does that make any sense??

Create a Smile Blog Hop (and a winner)

Create a Smile sent me the digital versions of the stamps to play with, and I created three cards to share with you today.
First, a couple of cards using the sweeter than sweet Friends in the Wood set. These animals are just my cup of tea. Love them all. So first I made a card using three of them side by side. :)

I created my sentiment digitally, using THIS cute free font. (Have you seen my Fonts Pinterest board?? Lots more fonts there). I added Glossy Accents and Wink of Stella to all the animals for a bit of interest. Oh, and wiggle eyes of course. :) I mounted the panel onto some Corrugated cardstock for a bit of masculine texture. :)

I made a similar card for my hubby - he loves red squirrels so I printed the little guy onto some Papaya cardstock then aded some strips of orange glitter cardstock to match. That ribbed kraft card… I love it for masculine cards.

And finally, a card created with the Comfy set.  For this card, I created a faux watercolour look with some fab digital papers from Pink Petticoat printed onto some 'Felt" white textured card. (I get lots of my card from HERE. I've been really happy with the quality and it's recycled too.)

For the cat, I altered the colour of some of the digital paper to black and white, then layered the cat image on top. I was really pleased with the result - it actually looks pretty convincing. :)
