Lucy's Cards - Challenge 8 and Challenge 7 winners

OK, this photo makes me happy.
My mother grew and arranged all the flowers for my wedding.  She's amazing. Seriously amazing.  All that work and commitment.  And all those vintage teapots... (she loves china... and flowers...)
I took this photo the day before the wedding, just as she finished the final touches.  It's one of my favourite photos.
So the challenge:
Create a card inspired by this photo.
Your card can be any theme.
Link me to your blog post or photo using the Mister Linky box below.  Remember to link directly to the card.

Challenge closes: Sunday 11th April.
Hope you get a chance to enter.

It's the Little Things...

Michelle Underwood releasees her new digikit today - and it's another GORGEOUS one.  'It's the Little Things' is full of beautiful vintagey elements and papers.
I chose to play with this ticket.  I enlarged it, and made it the focus of the card.  The text 'Little Things' a already on the image, but I added the rest of the sentiment, then layered the bird and butterfly over too.  I love playing with digi kits.
Oh and I do love the polka dot paper in this kit.  Delicious.
Have a happy Tuesday.  Check back tomorrow for a new challenge...

Monkey Fun

Ok so my sister complained.  Too many floral cards.  "Where are all the animals?" she said.  Then she challenged me... an animal themed bright pink and black card.
So Emily, this one's for you.  The monkeys are celebrating all her fabulous achievements... PHD, amazing job... just general all round genius that she is. Love you sis. x
All stamps are from My Cute Stamps Circus Animals set.  I just love it.
Since I paper-pieced al the monkeys, I thought I'd enter it into the Moxie Fab World 'Picking up the Pieces' challenge.
Oh and P.S.
don't you just love the cross-eyed monkey in the middle...  she's had too much Champagne.

Caardvarks new challenge is sponsored by JustRite and they are offering more amazing prizes.  They are always so generous.  So I've been playing with one of their new release sets, Breath of Spring.  I love this set - and I think this little bouquet of flowers is my favourite stamp of the four.

Butterflies

I started this card with a clear vision in mind.
It is NOTHING like that vision.
It's funny where things take you sometimes.
I am not a sketcher or planner (even though, as a teacher, I know I should be).  I just go with the flow :)
Supplies: Papers - Vinnie Pearce (HERE) and My Mind's Eye, Stamps - Hero Arts; Ribbon - PTI; Gems - Hero Arts.
P.S.  I warned you that you might see a lot of this text paper.  I love THIS digikit.

Watch It Wednesday

I am so excited.  I have a video featured on the Hero Arts blog today.  And it's all about colouring. :)
Here are the cards I feature in the video, both showcasing THIS stunning stamp - so many possibilities with this one!
First, this card.    Love THIS new Eggshell layering paper.  Yum.  I also used the Old Letter Writing digikit to create the background for this card.  I recolored it pale pink then printed it onto Carnation layering paper.
And then this one.  This was inspired by THIS masterpiece by Jennifer McGuire.  I stamped and embossed THIS gorgeous new text stamp to create the background here.  And the sentiment is from THIS cute set.
Supplies: All stamps, images and Paper - Hero Arts; Spellbinders dies; sewing machine; Copics - R32, YG06, B93, G07; Coloured pencils - Faber Castell; Corner rounder.
And here is the video: (If you click on it, you can watch a larger version..)

Perfect Pearls...

... are GORGEOUS.  I finally got round to trying them, and although the photo doesn't really show it, this butterfly is just shimmering.
Today I've been playing with THIS gorgeous new digikit by Scrap Originals.  I adore this paper, and this butterfly image is so pretty.  I spritzed with water and THESE perfect pearls using THIS.  Love the effect.
Love THESE pearls too by Hero Arts.

               1.  Kathy Racoosin
               2.  Jill Foster
               3.  Agata Dag

Thanks for playing along again - another challenge to come soon. :)

Monday 8 March 2010

It all started when...

...a friend asked me to make a card.  An owl and a simple sentiment: 'Happy Birthday to a Very Special Person'.  Easy.
But I got carried away.
And THIS happened.
I get addicted easily.
It was all the fault of this yummy blue paper from THIS digikit. I have officially gone polka dot crazy.  Another of the reasons I love digi... it's so easy to add your own typed sentiment on top of the patterned paper before printing.  Perfect for those times when you want a sentiment you just don't own in stamp form!
LOVE the owls in THIS set.
And had to try a Masculine card. (Not my strength!)
And then, I just HAD to play with the peacock from THIS set.

And everyone knows I love THIS little deer...
Had some fun with puns. :)
And who couldn't adore this little guy... love THIS whole set so much!!!
That was my Sunday evening gone! :)
But I've got enough birthday cards to last me a few weeks at least.  Hooray. :)
